Frequently Asked Questions

This page has the answers to questions most people have about my patterns and handmade items. If you have a question that isn't answered here, please feel free to email me or drop a line in the chat box.

Processing time for handmade items

A processing time of 1-2 business days is applicable for all ready-made items. Processing time varies for all made-to-order to custom orders, which will depend on the size of the project.

Approximately processing times are as follows:

  • Baby Quilts: 1-2 weeks

  • Throw size and larger quilts: 3-4 weeks*

  • Quilted Pouches: 3-5 business days

*If you have requested professional quilting for your quilt, that might take longer. Please contact me for more details.

I have limited capacity for custom orders, and at any given time only have availability for two custom orders. If you would like to have a better estimate of how long it will take to make item, please email me.

Free tracked Australia wide shipping is available for all items. Shipping will be through Australia Post, unless otherwise notified.

There is currently no Express Post option available. If you would like to get your items express shipped, please contact me.

International Shipping

All my items are available to be shipped internationally for a shipping cost of AU$50 for small items and baby quilts and AU$75 for larger quilts (large throw size and larger). Shipping is free if your total order is more that AU$350. Shipping will be through tracked Australia Post, unless otherwise notified. There is currently no Express Post option available. If you would like to get your items express shipped, please contact me.

If your country does not show up as an option for shipping when making a purchase, please contact me. As different countries have different import rules, all countries have not been added as a default.

Please be aware that international shipping might carry an additional duty charge/import cost for delivery, depending on the rules of your country.

Shipping to India

For shoppers from India - while it is possible to purchase items with international shipping through the shop, I have also created an option for "combined shipping". This means that multiple orders from different people can be combined into one shipment, which could be more economical. Once in India, the items will be available for pick up from New Delhi or can be mailed further. Unfortunately, I am unable to give an accurate time frame for shipping with this option, as it will depend on the number of orders. If you would like to make use of this option, please contact me

The Materials Used

As a handmade items' creator in today's world, I am quite conscious of where I source the materials I use in my products while maintaining the quality and affordability of my products.

In my quilts and quilted items, I use high quality 100% cotton fabrics and either cotton or cotton-bamboo blend batting or wadding. This allows for frequent washing and feels pleasant on the skin. The quilts can be used all year without getting too hot in the summer. I use quality poly-cotton threads when sewing my quilt-top and in my quilting process which ensures seam strength that will hold fast with multiple washes.

I purchase fabrics and batting as needed for projects and try to re-use it as much as possible in other projects to reduce overall waste generated. Where possible I source fabrics second hand, either through markets or online from other creators. I do not design the fabrics themselves, but I love to incorporate Australian based designer fabrics in my projects.

Some things to be aware of:

  • While I use high quality cotton in my projects, because of the nature of cotton, some quilted products might bleed colour when washed. I strongly encourage washing separately the first time and/or washing with products like colour catchers for subsequent washes, to avoid this ruining other parts of the quilt or other items in the laundry.

  • While my fabrics are 100% cotton and the batting or wadding used is also cotton or a cotton-bamboo blend, for the purpose of longevity and structure, there might a small amount of polyblends in the batting or wadding and in the threads used. This allows the products to be used for longer. Because of this, unless explicitly stated in the description, products cannot be used in microwaves.

Use of Fabrics from India

I like to incorporate fabrics from the Indian subcontinent in my projects, and these fabrics are also available as fabric options for any custom quilt orders. It is my way of honouring my Indian heritage as a creator based in Australia. There are a great many Indian artisan dyed fabrics and block printed fabrics that I love to use and feel great to touch, especially after multiple washes. The weave from Indian cottons is not as tight as quilting cotton available in the shops, which makes it perfect for baby quilts or items for little ones.

Quilt Patterns

Many of my quilts and quilted items are made with original patterns, i.e., patterns that I have designed. In some cases, I have made these patterns available as a PDF pattern for others to use to create their own quilts. I also use patterns designed by others (credit given to the designer in the product description) for some of my handmade quilts and pouches. This showcases variety in the style of handmade items in my shop without the need to create new patterns each time.

Please note, that while I might use a pattern by another designer, the choices in fabric and how the pattern is incorporated in the handmade item is unique to me, making each item in my shop unique and one-of-a-kind.
